Every year on Valentine’s week, the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark Pampanga was a tourist spot for a lot of people, Filipinos or foreigners. All wanted to see the colorful display of the balloons as well as the aeronautical exhibitions available.
This year, we decided to join the celebration. I, together with my family went all the way to Pampanga and booked a room in Woodland Park Resort to witness the Hot Air Balloon flight on the evening of Saturday and the flight in the morning of Sunday. We bought the tickets from Ticketnet but the picture shown above is the ticket given if you purchase it on-site.
First of we unload our bags in the Hotel then went straight to Clark Field to see the event. When we arrived the area, we thought we couldn’t park near the entrance because it was full. Thankfully, we saw a space after the bus parking of PATTS Aeronautics employees or students.
We looked for our spot and settled down. It was a good weather, there were rain showers but it didn’t last long. We still enjoyed the day because even though it’s almost noon time, there was no sun. It’s cloudy and it was the best weather for us. π
While enjoying the flight exhibitions, sky divers and the crowd enjoying such simplicity of life, Andrew was in the long queue of people who wants to buy kites. We should have brought our own kites ‘coz the cheapest kite was not lower than Php100. There were kites that cost less than a hundred but it’s just plastic and is easily breakable.
After almost an hour of waiting, Andrew bought 2 kites for us. He of course had the airplane kite and I had the butterfly one. Too bad the butterfly has some technical errors. Haha! It’s not stable unlike the airplane one. Daddylo had fun flying the kite as well as Andrew. The girls were just sitting pretty in our mat enjoying the cool breeze and colorful kites.
By lunch time we went to find a restaurant. We wanted to try the famous Aling Lucing’s Sisig but when we arrived they have a VERY LONG queue of customers waiting for their food to be served. Since we have a senior citizen around, we looked for another restaurant and found Mamasuk. I thought it was okay but we were disappointed. I was too tired and frustrated I didn’t took a picture inside the place. We were all hungry so we ordered at once. We didn’t enjoy the food as well as the service. Maybe the restaurant is okay at the evening and not at Lunch time.
Moving on, we went back to Clark Field to wait for the Night Glow and the evening balloon flight. We looked for a place nearer the place where they setup the balloons. While waiting, I slept for a while and Zeny waited for her brother and her super cute nephew who claims to be “Justin Bieber”. Hahaha!
After the event, we had our dinner in Aling Lucing’s Sisig! But it is inside SM Clark! hehe. π Yes, their sisig tastes good, better than Mamasuk’s. =p We ordered the barkada meal, and to our surprise we finished it. I don’t know but we really are very tired that night so after dinner we went home at once and rest.
The next morning, we left the hotel at 4.45am. There was definitely a bumper to bumper traffic going to Clark Field. Luckily, even though lots of people are flocking to the area, we managed to get a parking space near the entrance again.
At last, we saw the flight of the balloons in the morning and that was the best part. No wonder a lot of people go to Pampanga just to join the event. Truly a colorful sight and such a happy feeling.
