It’s my first time to officially resign from a job. My first job was different coz I didn’t renew my contract and that’s it. This time, I have to go through a series of steps to fully confirm my resignation.

I think this goes to all employees not only in Fujitsu Ten Solutions company. Also, this was my personal procedure. I don’t know how others did theirs.
Resignation Procedure
1. Email Notification
I think it is good that you should email your Supervisor or Manager first before handling them your resignation letter. This will somehow show that you respect their superiority and you value your relationship with them. I did email my Superior a day before passing my resignation letter.
2. Submission of Resignation Letter
After the heart to heart talk with your superior, it’s now time to pass your resignation letter. Make sure to have your own copy as proof that your Manager and the HR got your resignation letter. This might cause some problems if not given to the HR 30days before the day of your resignation date. I submitted my resignation letter exactly 30days of my intended stay in my company.
3. Training/Activity Plan
This is important for the company and your group too. This is what we usually call “cascading activity”. After all the years you’ve spent in a company, you’ve gain lots of knowledge which sometimes is essential to the group. This is the time where you assign members of the group to accept the responsibility that you will entrust them as you leave the company. This usually takes a lot of time for those who have lots of projects that was pioneered during their stay. I did my own activity plan too, luckily I am responsible only to a few tools and projects.
4. Clearance Completion
This I think is the most tedious part of resignation. You have to let all the Managers sign on the clearance sheet before leaving the company. This means, you have to undergo a lot of interviews too. It’s kinda tiring and redundant too. You are to answer a number of survey sheets too before they sign the clearance form. They asked the same questions anyway. After the interviews and survey sheets, you’re done! The last signature is for the Accounting department. You can just leave it to HR for checking of back pay and all.
5. Farewell Email
Last thing I did was to email all staff and personal message to my group mates. I sent it when everybody’s out already. I was touched when some employees went out of their way just to visit me in my place and bid goodbye. Never thought I made a difference in their lives. I honestly was emotional that time. After the office clearance and the bidding of farewell, speeches and all we went out to eat dinner with friends.

P.S. Make sure you delete all your personal files and emails in your PC unless you want to share it to the next person who will use your terminal. Just a note!
