Last week, I was not sure if I’m a registered voter. I thought that you need to register every time there will be elections but I was wrong. I remembered that I voted last elections so that means I’m already a registered voter.
However, I was not convinced. I tried to search online if there was a tool to know if I’m a registered voter. True enough I found the website of COMELEC to verify if I am a voter. I entered my details and it was confirmed! I am registered in Precinct No. 0208A in Taytay Rizal.
Next thing I did was to search where the nearest voting center. Luckily, Google Philippines created a tool to find your nearest voting center using google maps! It was Election 2010: Find your Precinct. Their goal is to help the Filipinos to locate their precint. That was where I knew the place I have to go on the day of elections.
This morning, I was so tired that I can’t get off my bed early in the morning to vote. I woke up at around 10:00am and then we went to the precint at 11:00am. We arrived there and they saw my name at once since I told them my precinct number. Around 11.22am we were at the end of the long queue. I forgot to bring a magazine to buy my time. So I just waited in line together with my mom experiencing a severe heat of the sun. Luckily our precinct is shaded so no direct sun.
Finally, after an hour of waiting we were called to start voting. I don’t know how to position myself because the table is too small for the ballot! It was very long and 2 long folders are needed just to cover the whole ballot. It took me some time to shade the ovals since I didn’t do my assignment of writing down the senators. I also don’t know the governors and the mayor’s running in our place so I just shaded the name that I liked. Sorry.
The voting process went well in our precinct but when we watched the news after there were lots of comments and problems in other provinces. I already did my part of voting for our next leaders. We will all be waiting for the proclamation in the next few days. God bless the Philippines!
