Random Thoughts: Bathroom Cleaning

One of my friends asked me what’s the most challenging chore for me and I answered cleaning the bathroom at an instant. Another friend even asked me how often do I clean the toilet. I probably told him once a week. I don’t know if I should clean it everyday but I usually do the chore once a week.

The most awful sight and smell is seeing an untidy toilet bowl. I hate unblocking the toilet and I hate smelly room. I make sure that after doing the cleaning routine, I’ll spray some freshener to make the room look and smell clean.

So what are your tools in cleaning a toilet? It is mandatory for me to have an an easy toilet cleaner. I use two kinds, the liquid and the powdered one. I also need scrubs to remove dirt and stains. I usually starts on the area where the toilet bowl is located then after would be the bath or the shower area. The floors and the walls are the easy part but the bowl itself is the most awful, painful and challenging part of cleaning. Hahaha! I clean the outsides first then insides last. I usually start the liquid cleaner first to nozzle under the rim and leave it there while I start to clean the outer parts of the bowl. When I’m done, I will start brushing and cleaning the insides of it. It gives me the confidence that the cleaner will kill the germs if I leave them for a few minutes. After the brushing, I will flush the toilet and leave it as is for the moment.

I will continue cleaning the bathroom using the powdered detergent and brush the floor, walls and the glass doors. It’s just easy but make sure you limit the use of water coz it can be overwhelming. One time I was so caught up with my cleaning and realised that the water is overflowing and the bathroom was a little bit flooded. That’s a bit messy and hard to maintain. So be sure to conserve water.

I will again review how the toilet bowl is doing and if it needs cleaning still, I will do another round of brushing. If not, I will proceed to spraying a freshener for the final touch. And it’s done. I think it takes me about and hour to clean one depending on how dirty it is. But in average, less than an hour is a decent timeframe.

How about you?
What’s your experience in cleaning your bathroom?
