Casa Armas is a Filipino-Spanish restaurant that serves authentic Spanish cuisine. The price is a bit high since majority of their ingredients were imported. It is ranked as top #8 things to do in Manila in Lonely Planet.
A passionate clique of chowhounds and foodies have been spreading the good word about this Filipino-Spanish spot for years, where tapas, paella, seafood and even entire roast suckling pigs are on offer. – from the Lonely Planet.
This place was the best bet we had when we were looking for a restaurant serving Spanish cuisine. We were also considering Alba in Tomas Morato but we’re not ready for an eat-all-you can environment.
We surprised our friend, Zeny on her birthday and we knew she misses Spain especially the Paella. She was the friend I was talking about who joined the recent World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain.

So here’s what we ordered for the night’s celebration:
Tabla Casa Armas Especial Php 615
A glorius selection of ham, cheese, sardines, chorizo, salami, olives and asparagus in one grand platter. A marvelous treat!
One serving is all we need to taste some of the yummy tapas of Spain. A definite must-try!
Huevo con Esparrago y Jamon (Php 35/pc)
Hard boiled eggs topped with asparagus, ham and salsa mahonesa.
It looks like “puto” but this is really an egg. A different way to eat eggs.
Ensalada de la Casa (Php 205)
Special Chef Salad
Well, this came to be a disappointment. We love salad but this one was nothing special. We thought there’s something new from the selection since it was the Chef’s special salad.
Paella Valenciana (Php 865)
Paella with pork, chicken, seafood and vegetable
This one is the night’s favorite! One serving can serves 4-6 person depending how much one eats. Hahaha! The waiter was kind enough to serve us the paella straight from the pan to our plates. Of course, the first one to be served is the birthday celebrant. This was the best tasting paella I’ve ever had in ages. I can’t even remember the last one I had one.
Espaguetis Marinera (Php 395)
Seafood spaghetti
Honestly, I can’t tell you how this spaghetti tastes coz I never had one. I was so full already after eating the paella. I should have not ordered it in the first place. I was just worried the food was not enough for all of us. But they told me it was okay though.
Our drink for the night is the large pitcher of Sangria that costs around Php 1,120.
After everything was served, one of the Casa Armas staff sang a birthday song to Zeny and gave her the cake we bought. ^_^
All in all we were satisfied with the food and the ambiance. The staff served us well and the place was well organized. We loved our food especially the Paella and will definitely come back for more.
