Miss Universe 2011 Winners

Today’s Miss Universe 2011 pageant was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil. I woke up around 9:00am and when I checked my twitter, everyone was talking about Miss Universe! So I opened my TV (unfortunately I didn’t have Star World so I just stick to our local channels) and watched the show.  However, twitter is more updated than the ones being aired in our local channels. I was laughing when I already knew the Top 5 and  the one I was viewing was still on the Top 16!

Anyway, they will have a re-run of the competition but I’m not so sure of the schedules.

To cut the story short, here are the winners of today’s competition:

Q&A portion:
Question by Lea Salonga
If you could change one of your physical characteristics, which one would it be? and Why?

Answer by Ms. Angola (with interpreter)
Thank God that I’m very satisfied by the way that God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing. I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty and I have my principles. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I plan to follow them for the rest of my life. And now I would like to give all of you a piece of advice: Respect one another… (buzzer beeps)

1st runner-up  Ms. Ukraine – Olesya Stefanko

Q&A portion:
Question by Amelia Vega
If you could trade lives with anyone in history, who would you choose and why?

Answer by Ms. Ukraine (with interpreter)
I’ll simply live my life. I’m very satisfied with it. But if I did have a chance to trade roles with someone, I think I would choose Cleopatra. I think she is a very powerful and strong woman very much worthy of respect. And I think a woman can also be a leader like Cleopatra.

2nd runner-up Ms. Brazil Priscila Machado

Miss Brazil – Priscila Machado, 25

Q&A portion:
Question by Helio Castroneves
What would you do to avoid fighting a war you did not agree with?

Answer by Ms. Brazil (with interpreter)
First of all, I’ll explain to people that the mere quality of human beings is respect. And no war is based on respect, it’s based on misunderstanding, it’s always based on a lack of education. So I would tell that person that they should respect one another as human beings.

3rd runner-up Ms. PhilippinesShamcey Supsup

Q&A portion:
Question by Vivica Fox
Would you change your religious beliefs to marry someone  you love? Why or why not?

Answer by Ms. Philippines (the only contestant who doesn’t have an interpreter!)
If I had to change my religious belief, I wouldn’t marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God who created me and I have my faith, my principles and that makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too.

4th runner-up Ms. ChinaZilin Luo

Miss China – Luo Zilin,24

Q&A portion:
Question by Isabeli Fontana
Nude beaches are common in some parts of the world. Is public nudity appropriate or inappropriate? and Why?

Answer by Ms. China (with interpreter)
I know that every country has their rules and regulations and every country has their own habits as well. We wish we could respect them and understand them.
