Last year, I had a friend who was ordained priest. This year, on the 2nd Sunday of January 2011, another friend took his Solemn Profession of Vows. After 6 months, he will then be ordained as a Deacon and then another 6 months, he will be officially ordained Priest.
I felt so blessed to know 2 priests who became my friend before they were ordained. Me and my friends felt the joy as well as the sacrifice their parents are having offering their sons to the community of the religious.
Anyway, our friend Bro. Sheldon Tabile, OCarm professed his vows and was officially a brother of the Carmelites. We haven’t seen him for such a long time and it was nice seeing him again offering his life to the Lord. He was always the jolly person we knew back then in the UST Campus Ministry. He was also a Thomasian Volunteer for a year or so before he pursued his calling to be a priest.
On the day of his Solemn Profession, he had the chance to play his favorite piece back then during the UST Freshmen Recollection before. Of course, it will not be complete if Ate Apple weren’t there. She was always our soloist that time and Sheldon was the pianist. Their favorite piece was Your Heart today and whenever they sing that song, everyone is in deep reflection and prayer. I bet Ate Pache also remembered those times when Ate Apple sang the song.
We had a great time during and after the celebration. There was a small reception in their pantry and we had a chance to look back and tell stories that night. Unfortunately though, not all of us was present since it was raining that day. Nevertheless, Sheldon is now a Bro now and we’re proud friend of his.
Congratulations Bro. Sheldon!!! We will be praying for you. ^_^
