Exactly 2 months ago, our friend was ordained Priest by the Arch Bishop of Manila, Gaudencio Rosales. He is now officially called Rev. Fr. Carlo del Rosario.
It was a huge event, similar to that of a wedding ceremony since the Manila Cathedral was full. He was not the only one being ordained that day so he shared the limelight with fellow deacon and now a priest Rev. Fr. Adonis Saclolo.
The celebration is in a way is the same as the Deacon Ordination. The Cathedral was really full and you can see the support of a lot of people. Even the whole UST Seminary was there as well as the UST Orchestra (mukhang msyadong magaling manghatak ang Rev. Fr. Caloy! hahaha!).
I can’t remember all the details but it was such a great event. We were all proud and happy that he is now a priest.
After the celebration is of course, the reception in the Clamshell in Intramuros. We didn’t get the chance to talk with Rev. Fr. Caloy since he was too busy welcoming and thanking the guests. Good thing we managed to take a photo with him. However, only 4 of us came from the WYD delegation but I know if they’re free that time, they’d be excited and happy to be part of the celebration.
Later that afternoon, Fr. Caloy celebrated his first Thanksgiving Mass in Manuguit, Tondo where he is assigned to do his ministry. After that, there’s another celebration care of the youth groups and the community of Manuguit. I bet they loved him so much because of the way they expressed their support and thanks after the mass. They even have a drum and lyre band for him! It was my first time to experience seeing a friend to be ordained as priest as well as seeing a LOT of people honoring someone I know.
There was another celebration in Bulacan the next day since he was originally from there but didn’t had the time to go there. According to Christian, there was again a big celebration for him. We got the souvenirs after a week or so. Good thing Christian got one for me and Zeny.
Congrats Rev. Fr. Caloy! May you always be a good and compassionate Priest to every one. God bless you as always!
