2010 Palawan Getaway Day 3: Island Hopping

The rain and dark skies has left Palawan islands so we had a very sunny with cumulus clouds during our Island Hopping tour. We left the Resort around 7:30am and went to the Honda Bay port.

We registered first in the information center before going to our boat. We are 12 on the boat plus the 2 boatmen and the tourist guide. Ate Glo will be our guide for the whole day.

Instead of the usual Starfish Island, we went to Pambato Reef for our first stop. Here, all we did was to snorkel. It was kinda scary at first because you can see how deep the ocean was and you’re just snorkeling all by yourself. We saw fishes and corals there but the water is not that clear. It is a little bit cloudy underneath. Ate Glo told us that because of the previous rainshowers, some waters from the mountains are mixed with the ocean that’s why the water is not so clear.

Our next stop was the Snake Island. It was called snake island because of it’s snake like shape. We arrived there partly high tide so we really can’t see the snake figure of the island. But after lunch we already saw the long stretch of the island. It’s like off white and a little bit dirty because of the seaweeds and shells by the shore.

We had our lunch there and went snorkeling a little bit. It was too hot to be under the sun that’s why most of the time we’re only inside the hut or taking pictures.

We had shrimp, fried chicken and pork, adobong pusit and pansit for lunch. Even though it is “packed lunch” compared to yesterday’s buffet in Taraw Restaurant, we had a full stomach. It was enough for all of us plus an ice cold Sprite and Coke to quench our thirst.

We left the island an hour after we took our lunch. Our next stop is Pandan Island. This is where I enjoyed the most. The sand were fine with no seaweeds and seashells by the shore. We took some pictures and ate Halo-Halo for Php 70 with unlimited ice and milk! After taking our merienda, we took our bread for our fish feeding activity.

We saw different colored fishes and a lot of sword fishes. I wonder if they can hurtful when touched but I never tried touching them. The water was warm on some parts but cold when you’re a little farther from the shore.

Around 3:00pm, we’re preparing our way back to the city and back to our hotel. We arrived around 4pm in our resort. We took a bath and rested for a while before going to Kinabuch’s for dinner. I made a separate entry for our dinner experience in Kinabuch.

All in all, if you love beaches.. Island hopping is a must for you in Palawan!
