2015 Fun Run: The Sun-Herald City2Surf

I was trying to review my blog about City2Surf and I realised I didn’t write about this event last year. This just shows that I’m lazy! I only got my first city2surf run experience so I should be publishing my 2nd run soon. Come to think of it, that happens to be my best time and yet I didn’t create a post for that. That was my first run with Andrew as well. Tsk tsk!

As usual, before the event, we went to the City2Surf Expo in Moore Park just to check the merchandise and other stuff. I did go there for the Westpac Red Zone pass. It’s a cool down/recovery zone for Westpac customers. (Free food & drinks!) I just handed them my card and gave me a wrist band. We got a westpac headband as well. Haha!

This year marks my 3rd year of joining this event. It’s my 2nd year “friend-sary” with Teejay, 2nd time running with Andrew and 1st time with our friend, Barbs. 🙂

Before the race starts

Since we’re not beating our time last year and didn’t actually train for the marathon, we’re not expecting for a good standing. We’re just there for fun and exercise.

Going to the start line

We were there 15mins before our start time (08:30) in the Blue section and just follow the crowd as the race started. We didn’t run all the way to the finish line. I ran only when we’re down hill and walk/jog up hill.

I just saw the official result this morning because the system crashed since yesterday. It still takes time to load but it’s more faster now to search than yesterday.

I officially finished the race at 1:57.01! At least I’ve beaten my first run! it’s 2-3mins faster. Hahaha! I’m still waiting for the official pictures from the marathon and will check if there’s even one decent photo of me.

We went to the Red Zone after and had some snacks. They have sandwich, fruits, water and coffee. It was such a relief.

We were all dead tired when we got home. We all had headaches as well. Maybe because of the heat of the sun and then cold wind blowing going home. Thankfully my legs are not that bad. I still got leg sore but I’m okay.

We all did it! 14k done!

Did you join the City 2 Surf event? What do you think is the best part of the event?
