2014 Sydney: Sydney Royal Easter Show

Our easter celebration is not yet finished. After the morning mass, I went home and got some stuff and went straight to the Olympic Park. Every Easter, they have this event in celebration of Australian culture. The Sydney Royal Easter Show enjoy a lot of things such as agricultural competitions, animal shows, entertainment, carnival, shopping and much more. I heard from my colleagues that one of the major things that people are looking forward to is the Wood chop competition. Another probably is the Show Bags.

I went on my own via Train and purchased the entrance ticket of almost $40. The fee was a bit pricey for me but if you think about it, it’s not that bad. They actually turned the boring Olympic Park grounds to a fun and enjoyable environment. Hahaha!

My officemate asked me to buy some show bags for his daughter. I thought that it’s just a small hall where you can find stuff by sections. When I got in, I was overwhelmed. It was huge and I don’t know where to start. There’s no map inside as well so I have to walk around and look for the stuff he wanted. After half an hour, I got all his requests and met at him at the nearest exit gates. It was the smile of the kids that made it worth it when they saw the show bags. It was really cool.

After buying those show bags, Reg and Flaire were already there too. We again took a stroll inside the show bags hall then off for lunch. We don’t know where to go so we look as we go. We saw the Woolworth’s Dome where they sell organic and healthy stuff. We went inside to check it out and try some testers and see if there are things we want to buy.

It was again massive but we were happy to buy a bagful of Gotzinger sausages that taste amazing. The bag was just $15 for 4 packs of sausage. I bought the cheese kransky, hungarian beef sausage, kabana pepperoni and the german bratwurst. I should’ve bought more but it was too heavy already.

We ate in one of the stalls available and it was not actually good food. Well, we were starving already so we ate whatever’s available. After lunch we met up with their friend somewhere near the barn. Hahaha!

The area was a bit smelly but it was interesting to see that they created a mini farm inside the park. A mini barn or a petting zoo. Hahaha!

After meeting their friend, we decided to ride the Sky Flyer. It costs $7 for one ride. Pretty expensive! I wonder how much money a family can burn in one day at the park. Calculate entrance fee, show bags, food, rides, games, etc. Oh well, never mind.

I never thought that I’d get dizzy after the ride. According to Reg, the circumference is a bit small that’s why it is possible for you to throw up. Hahaha! I admit, it was a bit scary for me too. It was nice that Flaire was able to take a photo in action. Too bad I was playing with my phone that time.

It was a full day of walking but pretty cool stuff. I’m not sure if we’d go there next year but probably I would coz Andrew might want to experience that as well.
