For the month of August, I was able to finish another book entitled “Dancing in the Dark” by Robyn Bavati (321 pages). It is a story of a Jewish girl whose family is religious and wants her to follow Torah obediently. However, her love for dancing made her think on her views against what her family believes in. It is a struggle of a girl between doing what she really loves and what her family wants her to be.
I like the way the author gives the readers the question on what would “Ditty” do. That’s how I end of wanting to finish the book in one seating. But obviously I didn’t since I’m doing something else. Anyway, I admire how the character stood up on what she believes in and fight for it. It’s a bit risky but in the end everything will fall into place.
I recommend the book to those girls or even boys who still scared to fight for what they want. I’m not suggesting that you don’t honor your parents but make time to explain and see what is in it for them. I strongly believe that in whatever one does, parents would actually hear your voice and understand your point. Just be open minded and know that what you’re fighting for would still be beneficial for you and to them too if possible.
