Based on the much loved animated film, Disney’s Aladdin tells the story of a street-smart commoner whose whole life changes with one rub of a magic lamp. The brand new romantic musical adventure incorporates all the beloved songs from the film’s Oscar®-winning score and brings some of the movie’s most memorable characters to life. Jafar, Iago, the Sultan, the Genie and of course Aladdin and Jasmine come together to create a whole new world of magical musical theatre for the whole family.
Disney’s ALADDIN features music by eight time Oscar Award winner Alan Menken and Lyrics by Oscar Award winner Howard Ashman, Oscar Award winner Tim Rice, and Tony Award nominated lyricist Chad Beguelin (who also wrote the brand new book of the musical) — Atlantis Productions
Ever since The Sound of Music and Little Mermaid play of last year 2011, I’ve been wanting to watch every single theater play that I’ve watched in the movies when I was young. Not only that they sound so great, it leaves a smile on everybody’s face. 🙂
Recently, we watched Aladdin by Atlantis Production! Yes, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Disney Cartoons especially the singing parts. Even though I’m a frustrated singer, I still want to be part of the theater world. :p
Since it was the same makers with that of the Little Mermaid, we recognized some of the faces. Hahaha! Nevertheless, we really enjoyed the play!
We were lucky that it was Aiza Seguerra who played “Genie” that time. The role of “Aladdin” was portrayed by Tom Rodriguez, the boy from PBB and Here Comes the bride. And the role of “Jasmine” was played by K-la Rivera who was in the top 5 of Star Power in ABS-CBN.
All the artists were amazing. The voices of Tom and K-la was a surprise. In my honest opinion, I appreciate the theater voice of Tom than K-la. The articulation and the sound was similar with international stars! What a talent!
On the other hand, Aiza did well. Never thought she can do musical! Well, with her super awesome singing voice, bet she can do almost anything. She was a bit small for a Genie though. 🙂
All the cast did a great job with the acting, singing as well as the props. They’ve improved a lot compared to the set of Little Mermaid. The 3 narrators, Kassim, Omar and Babkak were outstanding! There were never a dull moment during the play because of them.
The most incredible part?! The Magic Carpet ride!!! Woohooo.. they were really riding a carpet and it’s flying on the stage. Hahaha! I felt like a giddy kid that night 🙂 It’s really the part that I’ve been waiting for… “I can show you the world… shining, shimmering, splendid…” *Sigh* such a good way to release your stress.
We were satisfied! No questions asked! Now I want a remake of the Beauty and the Beast!!!! hahaha 🙂
How about you? Have you seen Aladdin in theaters?
What can you say about it?
