Natural Brown Hair Color by Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring

If you’re following me on facebook, instagram or twitter, you know by now that I have a new hair color! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m just sharing what happened on one experiment I did to my precious locks. :p

I’ve been wanting a new hair color for a change. I’ve done hair cellophane before but the color is not that distinct. It is only now that I had the courage to try and see if I can pull off a new hair color.

I decided to try Etude House Bubble Hair Color in Natural Brown (#3) Php 378. I was really hesitant at first because it might end up funny. I want to buy Dark Brown (#2) just to play safe. In the end, I bought the Natural Brown shade.

The saleslady told me that I should buy 2 boxes because one might not be enough for my hair. Being a noob, I did bought two boxes. Good thing I just tried one box that night.

The box contains the following: The color, bubble bottle, gloves, shirt guard and the conditioner.

Inside the Bubble Hair Coloring box ๐Ÿ™‚

The first thing I did was to mix the color and the water inside the bottle. Shake well to achieve nice bubbles. ๐Ÿ™‚

And then wore the gloves and shirt guard to start the ‘session’.

Still black hair and wearing gloves and shirt guard. ๐Ÿ˜‰

One pump of the bottle produces a firm white foam/bubble. It’s like a hair mousse that you apply on your hair. So you’re like shampooing or just styling your hair. The difference is, you don’t need to rinse your hair first. :p You’ll do that afterwards.

After some time, almost halfway through I guess, I end up covering my entire head already. Since the sales lady told me to finish the whole bottle to achieve the desired color, I end up putting on wherever I can just to consume the whole thing. That for me was the hardest part.

Almost finished but not quite!

Finally, I was able to use everything and just pumped the ‘excess’ directly to my hair. So I looked like someone who has been playing with snow. Hahaha!

Finally done. Just finishing the 'excess'

As instructed, leave your hair for 45mins to an hour. Well, it was not stated that I should wrap my hair but what I did was, I wrap the shirt guard and used it as a cellophane to cover my hair. I have this illusion that if I do that, the color would come out better than expected. Hehe!

Color change in baby hairs

After some time, I can see that my baby hairs are starting to change its color. I was freaking out but at the same time excited with the end result. I waited for a while and finally rinse my hair with the conditioner/treatment cream included in the box. To be honest, my hair smelled bad at the time of the rinsing. Though the conditioner smells good, it over powers the bad smell of my hair. It was still there the next day but not that strong compared to the smell the night before.

Distinct Hair Color change

I can’t capture my hair color that night. Only the photo above showed a distinct color change. So the next day, I took a photo of myself inside the mall and outside under the sun to see the difference. [as posted in Instagram]

Indoor and Outdoor shot

Well, I was amazed with the result. Though it was lighter than the one in the image, it was okay. Besides, it did change my look. I literally can’t believe who/what I saw in front of the mirror the next day. I look different. I liked it but at the same time felt weird. Maybe I’m just not used to it but I know I’ll get used to it as days go by. I felt like I was part of the Twilight cast, being one of the hungry vampires wanted to get some fresh blood. LOL! I am sooo pale! I’m not that fair skinned but maybe the color brightened my face a bit. Well, it’s a good reason for me to wear make up though. Hehehe. :p

I’ve got positive response from family and friends and I’m happy with the change. It was liberating for me because doing so means stepping out of my comfort zone. Pretty little thing for some but a big thing for me.

Here’s a photo of me in black and brown hair. [again as posted in Instagram]

Black Hair vs Brown Hair

In the end, it was only the physical aspect that changed. I’m still ME, just enjoying life to the fullest. ๐Ÿ˜‰

== UPDATE 08-2-2012 (2 weeks after) ==
My hair color is still visible but it’s not that light anymore. It became dark brown as day goes by. I like it better compared to what I had on the first week. Maybe in a month’s time, my hair will be normal again. ๐Ÿ™‚
