Last weekend, I tried some mouthwatering, delicious dessert called Custaroons. I happened to know these because I saw someone from foursquare check-in there. I got intrigued so I researched the place “The Custaroonery“. I found her website and learned that it’s a fusion of custard and macaroons. Upon learning about this, it made me more curios how it taste.
It was fortunate that one of the pickup points is in Padre Pio parking lot which is just beside Eastwood where I work. So without hesitation, I ordered 1 Box of 12, half/half for Php 350. Meaning 6pcs of Original and 6 Cheese flavored custaroons.
The next day, we went to the parking lot and saw her small yet elegant shop in St. Padre Pio’s parking lot right beside where they sell Padre Pio’s memorabilias and rosaries. In all honesty, I never thought that there’s a shop beside it. I thought it’s just an extension or something. Well, I never really went close to confirm what it was.
Anyway, as we enter the shop I was literally amazed how dainty it look. The first thing I saw, the Daphne chairs! Hahaha!
And then when you look up, you’ll see a nice chandelier placed in a beautifully painted ceiling.
I personally love swirls and pastels so I can’t stop raving about the boxes and the whole store. I was fortunate that no one was buying that time so no one witnessed my giddiness except for Clam who was there selling the custaroons. Hehe.
Since my friend and I never had this before, we ordered 1 Original and 1 Cheese.

So how to know what’s the original and the cheese? It all depends on the custaroon wrap. The swirly designed wrapper is the Cheese and the simple design with a G logo is the original one. Look closer!

I liked the original since it’s not that sweet. The cheese has a tingling sensation of sweetness that for me is a bit strong. The combination of the macaroon and custard makes it taste heavenly. Though I prefer one over the other, we both liked the flavors.
Here’s the classy box of 12 we ordered and inside it, you’ll see a personal message from Gigi that says:

Each and every finger-licking, lip-smacking, reach-for-another goodness custaroon that comes out of the kitchen is freshly-baked by me so you earn a bite of flavorful pleasure out of every passionate minute I spend baking
Another goodies she have are the Custaroon Poppers. These are “bite-sized custaroon balls coated with a premium chocolate powder concoction“. Each box contains 25 bite-sized balls. I want to try all the flavors so I requested some assorted poppers to taste. They have 4 flavors of poppers: Original (custard), Coffee, Green Tea and Chocolate.
The chocolate coating of each bite-sized ball is very similar to that of Royce’s chocolate. It is best eaten right out of the fridge. The colder it is, the yummier it gets. I liked the Coffee and the Original/Custard flavor. The chocolate is a great for dark choco lovers. It’s a bit bitter for me. The green tea is fine too. I’m really not a fan of green tea unless it’s the hot tea drink. Else, I won’t order one. I will definitely order a box of original flavored poppers soon.
Besides the Custaroons and the Custaroon Poppers, she also have other goodies such as Fete D’ Fleur Cake that comes in Buttercream, Green Tea and Orange Chocolate Chip flavors, Lemon Vanilla Bean, Le Petit Squares and Matcha (green tea) Cookies.
She definitely know how to entice and satisfy each one’s cravings for dessert! A must try dessert. Seriously!
