Nuffnang’s 6th Blog Day: My Magic 6!

On Wednesday, August 31, 2011, the last day of the month before hitting “ber” months, Nuffnang will celebrate its 6th Blog Day!

Nuffnang Blog Day

Blog Day was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest…
Nuffnang Philippines

As a requirement to be part of the Blog Day 2011, a Nuffnanger must recommend 6 new blogs that interests them the most, preferably blogs which are different from their own culture, point of view and attitude. I have a couple of blogs I want to recommend but I only need 6 to qualify. So continue reading to find out what blogs I rave about.

Since the criteria says blogs from all over the world, I would recommend international blogs as well. So I split my recommendations to 2. I’ll be stating 3 international blogs and 3 local blogs. I hope you’ll like them!

Are you ready? Here’s my Magic 6!

[INTERNATIONAL]

Blog Name: Karen Cheng’s Fashion and Life
Author: Karen Cheng
Type: Personal turned to Fashion Blog

Why I recommend this blog:
I stumbled upon her blog few years ago. It’s not a Fashion blog back then. Her blog is simply about her family, their bonding activities, her recipes and anything worth sharing. I was already following her blog when they decided to make their 3rd baby. She is an Asian but now living in Perth, Australia. I’ve been reading her blog not only because of her cute adorable kids but she inspires a lot of women all over the world. She gives ideas on how to spend time with family, about parenting, how to deal with day to day life and anything of that sort.

Just recently, she turned her blog into a Fashion blog. She became famous with taking a picture of herself in front of the mirror displaying what she’s wearing for the day or for the occasion. She called it “Doing the Karen Cheng” pose that became very popular and made it to Singapore. I’m sure a lot of us (yes, including me) loves to take pictures of ourselves in the mirror but she had her own style. Now, she has her own fashion shopping guide readily available for readers who wants to be in fashion.

Blog Name: LJCFYI
Author: Jennifer Cisney
Type: Arts & Crafts / Personal

Why I recommend this blog:
I don’t know how I got to know her blog but I learned about her blog the same time with Karen Cheng’s blog. I was amazed how she manages to literally update her blog every single day. I do envy her for that coz I’m struggling to update my blog each day. Anyway, I recommend her blog to anyone who loves art and crafts, pictures, pet dogs and wants to learn cool DIY ideas. She updates her banner from time to time depending on the season. The cute LJC icon is visible in every banner including her dog Oscar. All the cute icons you see on the left side bar of her blog was made by her. She can even create an icon for you if she has time. Well, I haven’t tried contacting her and ask to make me one. Her awesome creativity makes me really envious! Haha!

By the way, she is the Kodak’s Chief Blogger & Social Media Manager!

Blog Name: Photojojo
Author: Amit and a host of contributors
Type: Photo Blog and everything related to photography

Why I recommend this blog:
Any photo addict out there would definitely love this blog. They publish newsletters every time a contributor sends their unique ideas photo related. You’ll see a number of suggestions on how to enhance your photos, improve your skills and trigger your creativity and anything you can think of that requires you to hold a camera and take some photos.

I’ve been following their crazy ideas and make you want to produce one too! They even feature cameras that you don’t know exists. Haha! Check them out and you’ll definitely see yourself wanting to try one of their tremendous ideas.

Now presenting Filipino pride…

Blog Name: Bride & Breakfast
Author: Janna Simpao
Type: Wedding Inspirations

Why I recommend this blog:
An every girl’s dream wedding can be found here. It features stylish, gorgeous and magazine-worthy weddings in the Metro. I attended a Basic Course on Wedding Planning and Coordination Seminar early this year and any events related blogs interests me particularly weddings. It’s such a happy occasion for everyone and it’s just nice to be part of it.

When you visit her site, it makes you want to get a piece of this and that in every wedding or engagements she features in her blog. She also takes note of the Metro’s celebrity weddings and other local and international based Filipinos. She had her own dream wedding too that was featured in Martha Stewart’s wedding magazine.

If you’re not married and thinking of tying the knot in a few years time, you might get your “dream” wedding ideas from this blog. However, be aware that it might be too frustrating if you can’t get your desired suppliers especially if you’re in a budget. If you’re already married, you might get an idea how to celebrate your Silver or Golden anniversary in the coming years! Never the less, the elegant and extravagant details as well as the overflowing joy of the couples with their family and friends makes you want to see more of their special day even if it only means looking at their pictures.

Blog Name: Ala’s Dos
Author: Ala Paredes
Type: Personal

Why I recommend this blog:
You might probably know here since she’s an MTV VJ and the daughter of APO Hiking Society’s Jim Paredes. Yes, this is Ala’s second blog. I’ve been following her pansitan.net blog but it always says “under construction”. Luckily I was able to search for her 2nd blog which is simply called “Ala’s Dos”.

I followed her blog as she travel and explore the world especially when they migrate to Australia. I wanted to migrate there too and reading her blog makes me feel how it is to live in Australia. Her blog talks about her everyday life, encountering a whole bunch of people in different cultures in one day, her art works and anything that comes to her mind.

Even if she grew up as a celebrity with the shadow of her father’s public figure, she actually turned out to be a simple young girl like everybody else who wants to enjoy life to the fullest. The notion of a celebrity being a brat and all were erased as I read her posts and get to know her thru her blog. Her posts inspire and inform minds of young people. Her travel also interests me! I actually want to meet her in person. Haha! Well, maybe someday if there would be an opportunity.

Blog Name: Urban Dai
Author: Isabelle Valentos
Type: Fashion

Why I recommend this blog:
I knew Intet in Pantene’s Biggest Hair Movement event. I followed her blog since then. I later found out that I already saw her even before the Pantene event; she was also in the La Vanita Fashion Show held in Makati. Her sister, makeup artist Aby Valentos was one of the models during the fashion show.

A talented and well rounded girl, she recently won the Nokia & Elle’s Search for the Next Style Correspondent. Isn’t that great? She was the only Filipina chosen to be part of the New York Fashion Show with front row seats and join the other fashion bloggers all over the world. They only chose 8 finalists amongst thousands of bloggers who joined the contest. Not only she got her new Nokia N8 for free, she also got an all expense paid to New York plus an opportunity to be in Elle’s magazine. Isn’t she lucky? The perks of being a fashion blogger! Do you envy her? I bet we all are but she really deserves to win. She worked hard for her Style Portfolio. We’re just so proud of her!

Now, she is literally living her dreams. Here’s an excerpt from her “About” page:

“.. But my ultimate dream is to travel the world and have my contributions in Fashion and Marketing be published in books and magazines someday (and I secretly believe that my natural charm and infectious laugh will get me there)” – Isabelle Valentos

She’s scheduled to fly to New York on September 7, 2011. She has a lot of sponsors such as Roxy and Primer Group of Companies for her luggage bag. I’m so excited and happy for her, you can check her blog and together we’ll join her glamorous and stylish days while she’s in New York.

Well, that’s my 6 blog recommendations for Nuffnang’s Blog Day. Interesting enough?

Maybe you know of blogs worth visiting, share it to me! I might get hooked reading their blogs too!
