On our third day, nothing much happened compared to what we did on our first day. Today, we’re off to the Summer Place and Wangfujing Shopping Center. The weather is hot and humid that time so our energy was sucked by the heat of the sun! I’d rather sit on a corner and just enjoy the view than roaming around and take some pictures! It’s just so hot. Haha! :p

Here’s what we did on our last day in Beijing:

Silk Factory

Silk Factory

This is where they make the silk quilts and clothes. This trip is really like a ‘field trip‘ when I was in my elementary years. Here, the guide informed us of the silk worm’s life cycle and how they maximize ALL the parts of the silk worm from beginning til the end of their life cycle.

Guide telling the Silk Worm's life cycle

It started as an egg, then work and then a cocoon. There are two kinds of cocoon, the double egg and the single egg. The double egg are the ones being used for quilts and the single egg is for the clothes. Now can you imagine how many cocoons they use for a single quilt or dress?!

The eggs of the cocoon can be eaten by frying and is considered as an exotic food.

The poops of the silk worm can be used as pillow and can act as a medicinal pillow for some.

My mom’s friend bought a silk quilt in a bargained price with a lot of freebies too! Good deal. If I’m using a comforter at home, I’d probably buy one too. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s really worth it. The softness and the quality is totally remarkable. They say that it is good for people with asthma.

Summer Palace

This place is also known as Gardens of Nurtured Harmony. This was built by the Emperor’s son for his mother. The place served as the Empress’ Summer Resort where they go during summer vacation.

We didn’t ride the boat to see the entire place so we just walked and checked the view. Notice the bridge’s center column? That’s where the Emperor’s dragon boat passes thru when they race during the summer.

Wangfujing Shopping Center

Finally! Shopping at last. ๐Ÿ™‚ Well, we just went inside one mall because the place is too big and we’re given only 1 hour to do the shopping! Imagine?! 1 hour?!?!? Hahaha!

KFC at the back! :p

Well, I did find a good jeggings in Uniqlo. That’s the only thing I bought. Boo! Frugality prevails!

When we went out, we saw some street foods but I didn’t tried one. My stomach might get upset and it might ruin the whole trip. I just took some pictures!

A fun filled day on our last day. Finally, we took a picture with the guide and the driver. Our Beijing tour was awesome and I really recommend it to anyone who likes to visit Beijing China. You’ll definitely get the most of your money! It’s such a money well spent. :p
