On our second day in Palawan, we had our breakfast on the top level of the pension house. They server different meals per day so you have to ask or check for the menu in the lobby. For that day, I think we had the option of vegetable omelette, continental breakfast and burger and chips. I’m not sure with the third option though. I ordered vegetable omelette that includes banana and rice with coffee or Milo for drinks.
We had an early call time since we will have a long drive to Sabang port for our Underground River adventure. Upon reaching the Sabang port, the guides coordinates with the locals for our boat ride to the Underground River. Since we are in a big group, we are divided to 2 groups again.

We arrived in the island where the so called Puerto Princesa’s Subterranean River is located. The first batch started early then the 2nd batch waited for another boat to arrive.

The good cameras are with the 2nd batch so they had more photos than our group. They had the chance to take a photo of us since they were still starting when we are about to exit the cave.

Beside the underground river is also a wildlife park where we saw monkeys and lizards in the wild. One monkey even got the gatorade drink from one of our tour guides. He just got something then when he came back, the monkey already got his drink and drank it far from him. Hahaha!

After the underground river adventure, we were back to Sabang port to eat our lunch. We ate our lunch in Taraw Resort and the menu was exactly the same that we had last year except for the drinks. We had softdrinks this year instead of the fresh buko juice they served last year.

It was also this lunch time where they tried the famous “tamilok” or wood worm in english. As mentioned before, its taste is very similar to oysters but only in a worm-like figure. Hahaha! Tochie and Daddylo enjoyed it since they love oysters. I just tried one worm that day. :p
After lunch, we went back to the pension house to rest for a while before going to Iwahig river for our Firefly Watching adventure. We slept for an hour or so before the tourist guides fetched us again for our final adventure that day. We ate in Ka Inato, an inasal restaurant in Palawan where they experienced the most spicy inasal to date. Hahaha! I ordered the regular one since I’m not a spicy food fan, but those who ordered the spicy inasal really had a spicy hot experience. They think that the chicken was marinated with lots of chili plus tabasco sauce. They were literally red-faced and perspiring because of the spiciness of the chicken. It’s a must try for spicy food fanatic.

We went straight to Iwahig river after dinner. We were on time since when we got there, there are a number of boats already available for us unlike last year where we waited for an hour or so just to wait for the boats to be occupied.
The balikbayans wore the “salakot” for… photo op purposes. Hahaha! ^_^

The fireflies cooperated and entertained us with their lights. Though we only saw a number of planktons that night, I saw a bigger number of fireflies in each mangrove compared to last year. It was overwhelming that Palawan government in cooperation with ABSCBN that they are being true to their word that they are conserving and taking care of the place. The growing number of fireflies means that the air is not polluted so fireflies can stay there. I hope in time, all mangroves have millions of fireflies each. It would really be like natural christmas lights all year round in Iwahig if that happens.
