August, the 8th month of the year, the rainy season in the Philippines, happens to be my Travel Month.
A lot of you may ask why but this happened to be a mere coincidence. It all started last 2005. Its been 5 years now and it still felt like yesterday. My first ever international travel was last August 14-31, 2005. I was a delegate of the 20th World Youth Day held in Cologne, Germany together with 24 Thomasians who represented the University during that time. We were all excited and I bet each one of us had our own share of memorable experience during those times in such a nice place where everything seems just perfect (like my favorite burgers in Cologne).
After the World Youth Day celebration, we had the chance to have a side trip to Europe’s best places. We had our Pilgrimage in Europe where we visited churches and other famous tourist spots. The group “Penshoppers” was born then. I together with Del, Trish, Aisce, Christian, Rev. Caloy, Roan, Ben and Ted bonded during the event and became friends since then. We hardly meet nowadays due to our busy schedule. The last time we meet up was last March during Rev. Caloy’s Deaconal Ordination but still we were not complete. I hope before the year ends, we can be complete again and just enjoying each other’s company.
After that year, I can’t remember traveling on August. I traveled Japan twice but end up going home in August. My next August travel was last year, when my bestfriend Marian and I together with my mom decided to go to Hongkong and Macau last August 12-16, 2009. Since our company is experiencing economic crisis, we had a 2-day forced leave last year so I get to avail only 1 vacation leave for our trip. We booked a promo fare from Philippine Airlines and off we go to Hongkong and had a one day trip to Macau.
And finally, this year I am off to Singapore together with my college friends tonight. We will be there until the 18th of August 2010. We booked a promo fare in Cebu Pacific and we’re on. I’ll update you with our adventure together with my previous travels afterwards. ^_^
