Banchetto is “feast” in Italian. I never knew this until I googled it. Often times I hear this term from my friends who always go out on friday night until the wee hours of saturday.
I work in Ortigas area and it’s a shame that I haven’t been to such kind of feast until last week.
One friday night, we had dinner in Shangrila but had limited time for stories since the mall closes at 10:00pm. We decided to look for a place where can hang out until the morning. We went to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Ortigas Park and all of a sudden, they wanted to wait for the banchettos in Emerald Ave.
It was a little bit rainy around 1:00am but it stopped around 2:00am. Since the coffee shop closes at 2:00pm, we went to Banchettos for our finale.
I was excited really since it was my first time to experience it. Everyone knew about this except me. The first stall I saw catered “lechon” at 2:00am in the morning!!! Then a lot more.
All food varieties were there. Desserts, biscuits, burgers, rice toppings, street foods, etc. Honestly, if I can only try everything, I will but I’m already full that night. So we just checked out everything.
Finally, we had something to eat. Isaw (chicken’s small intestines) and fishballs and quek quek (quail eggs covered in orange flour). We all had fun!
We will definitely be back for some more. I’ll try the crepes and rice toppings next time. It’s really crowded even though it’s already past midnight. I think the Banchettos are made for the call center people and those working on night/graveyard shifts. Well, that would be one of the positive things you can do when scheduled on those shifts.
It is advisable that if you want to hang out and stay there in Banchettos, better be there before they set up so you can reserve your seats and can eat well. But if you’re a cowboy and don’t mind seating on the streets, you can go there anytime
We will be back for some more!!! ^_^
For those who are wondering if there is an entrance fee, don’t fret coz there’s NO ENTRANCE FEE. You just have to pay for the food that you’re going to eat. ^_^
