Boracay Paradise : It’s Time’s Advocacy Grand Prize!

Almost all the blogs and forums that I read says that going to Boracay in August is not a good choice since it’s the rainy season in the Philippines. However, since the last weekend of August is a long weekend, we decided to claim my prize of 3D/2N in Regency Lagoon, Boracay, Philippines. We didn’t regret going there on August. We never experienced heavy rains except for our first night. After that, it’s like summer! ^__^

Here’s our itinerary for 3D/2N:

August 28, 2010:      Early Morning flight to Kalibo and Paraw Sailing

August 29, 2010:      Sunday Mass in Boracay, Island Hopping and ATV Ride

August 30, 2010:      Para Sailing and Helmet Diving (Reef Walking)

A weekend full of fun and adventure! Thank you so much to Sun Life for sponsoring our Airfare, Hotel Accommodation with Full Board Meals.

It’s Time winner basks in financial freedom under the Sun

By: Tara Cabullo
(Just got this from It’s Time! Facebook Page)

All it took was her dreams, five referrals, and a pledge. Now, Kathleen Madula gets to experience the rewards of financial security as the grand winner of Sun Life Financial Philippines’ (SLFP) It’s Time to Tell a Friend promo. The island paradise of Boracay awaits her for a 3-days and 2-nights stay at the Boracay Regency Lagoon.

However, the trip is mere frosting on top of her financial cake. This advocate believes in the value of insurance, investment, and choosing the right partner for a brighter tomorrow. And her journey begins by basking under the warmth of the Sun.

A commitment

Even before learning of the contest, Madula was already thinking of ways on how to grow her money. Then she remembered the It’s Time billboard along C-5 and quickly visited the website, where she learned more about investment opportunities available in the country.

“Money is inevitable in this life we live in. We have the right to enjoy our life and money helps you achieve your dreams,” said Madula. She plans to avail of a health insurance plan, considering it a priority. Moreover, she wants to provide financial security for her family through an insurance policy.

Plan of action

According to her pledge, her dreams include setting up her own business and investing in real estate. Of course, she does not want her dreams to remain as mere wishful thinking. So Madula is now practicing the art of managing her finances. In fact, she has her own breakdown of funds, which she follows as much as possible:

Tithe Fund (charity and church) 10%
Expense Fund (personal expenses.) 25%
Support Fund (expenses for family) 15%
Emergency Fund (for emergency purposes) 20%
Retirement Fund (bonds, mutual funds, savings) 30%

Towards financial freedom

With her plan already put into place, Madula recognizes how discipline and a dependable partner can pave the way to financial freedom. For her insurance and investment needs, she would entrust her future with SLFP. “Sun Life is running the business for more than a hundred years already. I’ve heard thru friends as well as read in papers and online positive feedback about this company. That’s why I’m very much interested with Sun Life,” she explained.

Madula also encourages fellow young professionals to take the first step in fulfilling and protecting their dreams. There are financial products that could suit everyone’s needs, including references that can be freely accessed online, such as the It’s Time advocacy.

“One only needs to stand up and make an effort to learn about it. It’s not as hard as it seems to be. You’ll be thankful once you learn how to manage your money well. It’s time to take action and make your dreams into reality,” she advised.

It’s Time! Grand Prize – Claimed!

After the Press Conference, Tara Cabullo, Digital and Creative Marketing Analyst and Gregory Martin, Chief Strategic Marketing Officer handed me my prize: A Gift Certificate from Boracay Regency Lagoon.

I still have to get in touch with Tara for the plane tickets. We are planning to go there by August 28-30, 2010 since the 30th is a Philippine Holiday.

I am now researching on what to do in Boracay, will try to maximize our time there. I’ll make a draft IT for our Boracay trip. ^_^

It’s Time’s New Endorser: Piolo Pascual

Piolo saying his message

The new endorser of Sun Life’s It’s Time advocacy is none other thatn Mr. Piolo Pascual.

I attended Sun Life’s Presscon last Saturday in Sofitel Hotel. I was excited because of 3 things: 1) First time to go to Sofitel, 2) Be part of a press conference, 3) I will be claiming my Boracay prize!

The press con has already started when we arrived. Sun Life gave us a press kit since we are joining the event. It was nice to get one since it has lots of freebies inside. A shirt, pen, umbrella, bag tag, etc. They got a snack bar too. Really great! I realized it’s really fun to get to be part in events like these. You don’t just get to learn something from them, you get to have wonderful freebies too! ^_^

It's Time Press Conference Kit

We were seated with the media people. They are news reporters that are focused in business sections. I honestly don’t read newspapers, I just rely on the TV and the internet for news so maybe they are famous in the paper world but I really don’t recognize their names. It was a little bit awkward sitting with them since their questions to Mr. Gregory Martin, the chief Strategic Marketing officer was highly intellectual. They were really talking jargon but we just listened and we definitely learned something from them.

While we were having those intellectual conversation in our table, Mr. Pascual is simultaneously having a one on one interview with the bloggers who signed up the event and wanted to ask him questions. After the interview with Martin, we managed to take a photo op with Piolo Pascual. I just joined them since I won’t be able to have a chance to take a photo with Piolo because of the long queue of interviewers.

I had a great time learning from the experts and joining a press conference too for the first time. Although my boyfriend kept on teasing me since I was telling him that I want to take a picture with Papa P. hahaha. ^_^

Seriously, I hope Piolo Pascual can really be an effective advocate for It’s Time! With his popularity here and Abroad, may he show his deep concern for Filipinos to be financially literate. May other celebrities thru him be an advocate too even without being the main endorser of Sun Life’s It’s Time!

It’s Time! to Tell a Friend Contest Grand Prize Winner

This afternoon, I received an email from It’s Time that I won the contest and tells me to claim the travel certificate.

I was not excited at first because I thought that it’s just a scam or something. If the information is true, they should have announced it somewhere. I searched for it in google and found their post in their Facebook account.

It's Time Facebook Page Wall Post

And it’s confirmed, I really won the contest.

For those asking how I joined the contest, here’s what I did to qualify:

Remember my post about investments in the Philippines? Before I post that, I was searching the web about good investment opportunities here in our country. And then I remembered the big billboard in C5 regarding financial literacy called It’s Time and browsed their website. I saw the link in their homepage that says “It’s Time to Tell a Friend.. Get a chance to win exciting prizes!“. Since I liked joining contests that doesn’t require money, I clicked it.

Here’s how the Tell a Friend Promo works:

  1. Visit and sign up as advocate.
  2. Click the “Invite-A-Friend” then enter at least 5 e-mail addresses of your friends.
  3. Aside from referring 5 friends, you must also post your story on the advocate page, to qualify for the promo. This means that you must post a pledge of personal financial commitment.

I joined the contest last June 16, 2010. (I checked my email the time I registered for It’s Time. ) Thank you for my friends who joined and registered to It’s Time. You’ve helped me get another raffle ticket and win this contest.

The email I received this afternoon was from It’s Time goes like this:

Congratulations! You are the winner of the It’s Time! to Tell a Friend Contest that we had since May. It was a pleasure reading your pledge. In behalf of all of us from Sun Life Financial Philippines, I would like to wish you luck in your future endeavors and investments.

Congratulations once again and we expect to hear from you soon.

I feel so LUCKY!!! I really can’t believe it. Thanks to Sun Life for this. I admire your effort to promote AN ADVOCACY ON FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR FILIPINOS.

I will update you once I claimed my prize. I’m just so excited!!!!

Here’s the advocacy I made in It’s Time (it’s almost the same with my blog post):
