I think 2011 was the year where I did a lot of travelling. I never get tired of going to new places and experiencing their culture. Some of them were already blogged but a number is still in progress. So here it is, the travels I did in the year 2011.
February 2011: Clark Field, Pampanga, Philippines This was when we had a great time food tripping as well as watching the colorful hot air balloons! (photo credits: Alexis Naing)

Today’s Miss Universe 2011 pageant was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil. I woke up around 9:00am and when I checked my twitter, everyone was talking about Miss Universe! So I opened my TV (unfortunately I didn’t have Star World so I just stick to our local channels) and watched the show. However, twitter is more updated than the ones being aired in our local channels. I was laughing when I already knew the Top 5 and the one I was viewing was still on the Top 16!
Anyway, they will have a re-run of the competition but … [ Continue reading Miss Universe 2011 Winners ]

Our next stop in China is Shanghai. Unlike Beijing, where we saw old culture of China, Shanghai is the modern part of China.
I booked a flight from Beijing to Shanghai via China Eastern in the internet. Good thing I chose China Eastern over China Southern. Our guide told us that China Eastern is better than China Southern. It’s like their Cebu Pacific flights that fly domestic destinations.

On our third day, nothing much happened compared to what we did on our first day. Today, we’re off to the Summer Place and Wangfujing Shopping Center. The weather is hot and humid that time so our energy was sucked by the heat of the sun! I’d rather sit on a corner and just enjoy the view than roaming around and take some pictures! It’s just so hot. Haha! :p
Here’s what we did on our last day in Beijing:

On our 2nd day in Beijing, our highlight for the day would be the Great Wall of China and Ming’s Tomb. But before that, let me share what had transpired throughout the day. Similar to day 1′s activities, we had stop overs to different shops or site before we go to our main attraction. For today, we went to the Jade Museum first before going to the Great Wall and Ming’s Tomb.

We arrived in Beijing at around 1:00am already. Our tour guide Amy was there with a banner with my mom and her friend’s name on it.

We were brought to the hotel, Taishun Business Hotel at once since everyone is tired and needs some rest for the day’s activities. Since we arrived at dawn, Amy was kind enough to offer that she will fetch us late and will go … [ Continue reading 2011 June Travel: China Day 1 – Beijing: Forbidden City ]

It’s my first time to travel internationally in a package tour besides World Youth Day 2005 of course. And I must say, I appreciate tours now than before. It might be pricey sometimes but it’s worth it because of the knowledge and stress free time in their country. However, sometimes I still opt to do ‘Do It Yourself’ (DIY) as it saves you money. But in the case of China, I find it hard to DIY since majority of the people there don’t speak in English.
